"Taking good care of the earth and its natural resources is something that has been with me since an early age. I grew up on the coast and spent lots of time in the dunes and woods and on the beach. Later on, my Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies at Utrecht University gave me a broad education in various aspects of the environment, from policy, law and LCA to topics like innovation and sustainable business. After this, I took a Master’s program in Environmental Communication and Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala, Sweden. In addition to my studies I regularly did volunteer work for various social enterprises.
Still every day I become more mindful of the wonders of ecology and the vulnerability of the earth. I’m convinced we have to take sustainability very seriously indeed in policy, business and our personal mindsets. My passion for sustainability soon latched onto an interest in the agri-food sector, given the relatively big environmental impact many of the products from this sector have. Also, as I always did horseback riding, I used to spend a lot of time on a large farm. Being around animals fascinated me from a young age, and at the farm I could never keep myself from a peek into the cowshed. I am eager to learn more about the agri-food sector and am enthusiastic about working at Blonk to help the sector become more sustainable.
Besides my work, I am active at multiple volunteering projects and I love travelling and listening to music."
